Dental Implants

With Dental Implants, we can now routinely replace one or more teeth without damage to any of the adjacent teeth. The end result is so good that only you would ever know that you had a new tooth. An implant is an artificial metal ‘root’ that is placed in the jaw bone where the tooth used to be. It is left for a few months to heal and integrate with the bone before it can be loaded to carry a crown or artificial tooth. The surgical process is usually done under local anaesthetic or using intravenous sedation if preferred. The success rate of implants is such that you can expect them to last a lifetime.

We are excited to introduce a new addition to our team! Dr Wilson Grigolli DMD PhD is a renowned European implantologist having placed in the region of 26,000 implants to date. A specialist in Oral Surgery, Periodontology and Implant procedures. Dr Grigolli is vastly experienced in the most challenging and unusual surgical cases and is one of the few clinicians in Ireland with the expertise to use the the Zygoma Implant procedure. He has worked with Dr. Per-Ingvar Branemark the creator of the modern dental implant. Wilson lectures internationally, and is recognised thoughout Europe as an expert in implant surgery and full mouth rehabilitation.

Wilson recently featured in the Sky Arts documentary ‘Rebuilding the Wreck’ the rehabilitation of the smile of Shane MacGowan of The Pogues.

Zygoma Implants “Teeth in a Day”

Have you been told that you are not suitable for dental implants? Now there is a solution. Zygoma implants have been around for almost 25 years but now with new technology which allows us to place a temporary fixed bridge for full upper arch rehabilitations in one day. So you can have “Teeth in a Day” !! Zygoma implants are used in the upper arch when there is insufficient bone levels available to place implants in the conventional way.

Zygoma implants work by utilising the “Zygoma” bone to give you teeth in a day without the need for bone grafting.
Our expert implant surgeon is available for a complimentary consultation
* Please phone the surgery today for an appointment
*(consultations require an OPG x-ray which is charged on the day)

Q: How many implants would I need?
If you are missing a single tooth then one implant crown can replace it. If several teeth are missing then an implant supported bridge may replace them. If you are missing all of your teeth an implant supported full bridge or denture might be appropriate. Such a denture would be far more stable than a conventional (tissue retained) denture.
Q: Would I be suitable for implants?
The ideal candidate for dental implants is a healthy non smoker with excellent oral hygiene and good quality bone in the area of the space. However most of these issues can be addressed at the assessment visit.
Q: Does the process hurt?
Placing an implant is a little like the reverse of extracting a tooth. Some post operative bruising and moderate pain is to be expected but this can usually be perfectly controlled with analgesic medicines.

I was so nervous when I first attended Ratoath Dental Centre, but with the support and patience of the team and the expertise of Dr Grigolli I had my bridge fitted with two dental implants last week by Regina. At the start of my treatment I had to have a Bone Graft and that takes time to heal. Nothing was rushed, and I had regular check-ups with Dr Grigolli before the bridge was made and fitted. The IV Sedation got me through the difficult part of the treatment, and Glenda could always be contacted if I had any concerns. I am very happy with my new teeth and I just want to say thanks again to Dr Grigolli, Regina, Glenda, and all the staff including the friendly receptionists

When I discovered I needed two implants I immediately thought about the financial cost and weighed up my options. Ratoath Dental and Implant Centre have been so quick to arrange appointments and their care and attention both before, during and after the surgery has been really comforting and something that money really can’t buy. It’s this customer service that gives you the peace of mind that you need especially when there are so many options that don’t offer the same level of care.

I had implant surgery performed by Dr Wilson Grigolli and honestly can’t recommend himself and Glenda highly enough. They explained every step of the process in detail and answered any questions I had. The process was a lengthy one with multiple visits over a number of months, some for a few hours, some for a few minutes. I can honestly say I felt nothing through the process. I was made to feel relaxed through the whole experience. The whole Ratoath Dental team are great, even when you are a drooling mess arranging the next appointment, the front of house staff make it easy and they even text you prior to your next appointment to ensure you don’t forget about it.
